BrainBuzz is a curriculum-based learning app for children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you are a parent or guardian, this also explains how we handle children's data.
1 Who We Are
BrainBuzz ("we", "us", "our") provides a mobile learning experience aligned with the Tanzanian primary school curriculum. If you have questions, contact us at peterkhamis5@gmail.com.
2 Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run the app and improve learning outcomes. Depending on how you use BrainBuzz, we may collect:
- Account information: name or nickname, phone number or username (if you create an account), and a hashed password/PIN.
- Child profile information (optional): selected class/standard, age range, and learning preferences.
- Learning data: session progress, scores, answers, time spent, and rewards earned.
- Device and app data: device type, operating system version, app version, language, and basic diagnostics (crash logs).
- Payment information (if applicable): transaction status and identifiers from a payment provider. We do not store full card or mobile money credentials on our servers.
- Support messages: information you send when you contact support (e.g., email, screenshots, messages).
3 Information We Don't Collect
- We do not require precise GPS location to use BrainBuzz.
- We do not ask children to share sensitive personal information (e.g., home address).
4 How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the learning experience (show sessions, save progress, award rewards).
- Create and manage accounts and keep the app secure.
- Improve content quality and app performance (e.g., fix bugs, understand which lessons work best).
- Provide customer support.
- Process payments and prevent fraud (if payments are enabled).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
5 Children's Privacy
BrainBuzz is designed for children, and we take children's privacy seriously. Parents/guardians should supervise their child's use of the app.
- We collect limited data needed for learning progress (e.g., answers, scores, session completion).
- We do not knowingly allow children to publicly share personal details inside the app.
- If you believe a child has provided personal information beyond what is needed, contact us and we will delete it where possible.
6 Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these cases:
- Service providers: trusted partners who help us operate the app (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, payment processing). They may access data only to perform services for us.
- Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business changes: if BrainBuzz is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may be transferred with appropriate safeguards.
7 Analytics & Crash Reporting
We may use analytics tools to understand app performance and improve learning. These tools may collect device/app identifiers, usage events, and crash logs. We use this data to improve stability and content, not to identify children personally.
8 Data Retention
We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You can request deletion of your account data (see "Your choices" below).
9 Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect data (e.g., access controls, encryption in transit where available). However, no system is 100% secure. Please use strong passwords/PINs and keep them private.
10 Your Choices & Rights
You can:
- Access and update: review and update profile details inside the app (where available).
- Delete: request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at peterkhamis5@gmail.com.
- Opt out of marketing: if we send marketing messages, you can opt out at any time.
11 International Transfers
If BrainBuzz uses cloud services, your information may be processed on servers outside your country. We take steps to ensure appropriate protection.
12 Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to third-party services (e.g., payment providers). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
13 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will provide notice in the app or on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this policy was last revised.
